Privacy Policy

We are committed to protecting your privacy

This Privacy Policy details how we ensure the confidentiality of the personal information that you entrust Nature's Apprentice Farm (also referred to as "we" and "us" in this policy) with. It also describes the choices available to you regarding our use of your Personal Information and how you can access and update this information. This policy applies to this site and all the products and services we offer.

What personal information do we collect?

You can visit the Website without revealing any information by which someone could identify you as a specific, identifiable individual.

We only collect and store the personal information you voluntarily provide to us when you fill any online forms on the Website, or when you send email, phone or in person communications. This may include:

  • Name (in all transactions): to know who you are and identify you as an individual.
  • Email address (in all online transactions): this is our primary way of connecting with most clients.
  • Phone number (in all online transactions): to contact you should email fail or if this is your preferred channel.
  • Address (only when delivery or site visit is requested): to deliver your products or on-site consultations.

Why do we collect your personal information and what for?

We collect your personal information to serve you. We use your personal information to:

  • Reply to inquiries and offer support.
  • Process and give updates on orders and transactions.
  • Send periodic emails.
  • Request feedback.
  • Provide member loyalty services and awards.
  • Inform you about available products and services, special offers, events and opportunities.
  • Provide customer service.

How do we collect and store your personal information?

We collect your personal information in a few ways.

Forms (website): in this Website, we use three types of forms:

  • Newsletter: when you opt in to receiving our newsletter, your name and email address are automatically collected and stored on Mailchipm, the Customer Relationship Management platform we use. In compliance with the CAN-SPAM Act, all e-mails sent from us will clearly state who the e-mail is from and provide clear information on how to contact the sender. You may choose to stop receiving our newsletter or marketing emails by following the unsubscribe instructions included in these emails or by contacting us. However, you will continue to receive essential transactional emails. For more information about how Mailchimp processes member contacts as a data controller, please click here.
  • Order: when you order a product (e.g. salad subscription, bird house) or service (e.g consulting package), your information is safely collected and stored in an excel sheet protected by password. When regular communication is required (e.g. salad subscription), we input your name and email address into Mailchimp.
  • Contact: the information you provide through our contact form is stored in our website server, and it is only used to reply to your inquiry.

Email, phone and social media correspondence: unless a transaction is involved (see "Order" form above), the information you provide through these channels is only used to reply to your inquiry.

In person: at events and/or on-farm sales, we may collect your personal information on paper. In these instances, you  voluntarily give us permission to input your name and email address into Mailchimp and/or excel and using it to contact you in the future.

Comments (website): When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment. If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

A note on embedded content: Pages or posts on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, links, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the privacy practices of such other websites or third-parties. We encourage you to be aware when you leave our Website and to read the privacy statements of each and every website that may collect Personal Information.

How do we protect your personal information?

We secure information you provide on computer servers in a controlled, secure environment, protected from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards in an effort to protect against unauthorized access, use, modification, and disclosure of Personal Information in its control and custody. We use the SSL/HTTPS protocol throughout our Website. This encrypts our user communications with the servers so that personal identifiable information is not captured/hijacked by third parties without authorization.

However, no data transmission over the Internet or wireless network can be guaranteed. Therefore, while we strive to protect your Personal Information, you acknowledge that (i) there are security and privacy limitations of the Internet which are beyond our control; (ii) the security, integrity, and privacy of any and all information and data exchanged between you and our Website cannot be guaranteed; and (iii) any such information and data may be viewed or tampered with in transit by a third-party, despite best efforts.

In the event we become aware that the security of the Website has been compromised or that your personal information has been disclosed to unrelated third parties as a result of external activity, including, but not limited to, security attacks or fraud, we reserve the right to take reasonably appropriate measures, including, but not limited to, investigation and reporting, as well as notification to and cooperation with law enforcement authorities. In the event of a data breach, we will make reasonable efforts to notify affected individuals if we believe that there is a reasonable risk of harm to the user as a result of the breach or if notice is otherwise required by law.

Who has access to your personal information?

Only you and us. We don’t share your personal information with third-parties.

We will disclose any information we collect, use or receive if required or permitted by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, or similar legal process, and when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.

When is your personal information disposed of?

When you tell us. You can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

If you do not agree to this policy, please do not use our Website or services. If you do not agree to abide by the terms of this Policy, you are not authorized to use or access our Website or services.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time in our discretion and will notify you of any material changes to the way in which we treat personal information. When changes are made, we will revise the updated date at the bottom of this page. We may also provide notice to you in other ways in our discretion, such as through contact information you have provided. Any updated version of this Privacy Policy will be effective immediately upon the posting of the revised Privacy Policy unless otherwise specified. Your continued use of the Website or services after the effective date of the revised Privacy Policy (or such other act specified at that time) will constitute your consent to those changes.
